PAQ Services, Inc. - Job analysis  -  The Position Analysis Questionnaire (PAQ) is a structured job analysis questionnaire that measures job characteristics and relates them to human characteristics. PAQ has been used since 1964 for reliable and defensible job analysis.

In the early 1970s, Dr. McCormick, not thoroughly satisfied with the measurement collection of the DOT, developed the Position Analysis Questionnaire (“PAQ”) based on further work for the U.S. Navy. A more detailed, 195 question document than the U.S. DOT’s Revised Handbook 64 measures, the result was a method of job analysis that has been used in a consistent manner (with the same approach and questionnaire) for over 35 years. Nowhere else can one find such a database (over 500,000 scored positions).

During the 2002 – 2004 period ERI Economic Research Institute became deeply committed to the “saving” of the Dictionary of Occupational Titles structure and construct in America, the “language of work” that is still used today in dozen countries. Gathering data about the characteristics of modern jobs has been problematic and ERI has developed a dozen approaches (including using MSN, CareerBuilder, SalaryExpert and modern Internet technology). Nothing, however, will ever best the work of a trained job analyst, on-site, creating an analysis that is used not for theory, but actually applied in important organization hiring, compensating, training and planning decisions. ERI decided to license the eDOT Project to PAQ the day it discovered that PAQ had, year in and year out for the past 15 years, averaged 10,000 quality job analyses scored using a much refined Revised Handbook of Job Analysis construct.
